I know people say it’s difficult to lose weight, but over the years I’ve come to realize that SOMETIMES they say that because it’s difficult for them to stay on an eating plan. But for me – it was difficult to actually LOSE WEIGHT – no matter the eating plan or how much I exercised.
It was difficult, but I was lucky in that it wasn’t impossible. So when I finally heard about #Lipedema when I was in my 50’s – so many things made sense.
But at the time, it was said the only solution for Lipedema was surgery – and that didn’t seem right to me, since I HAD been successful in losing weight previously… it’s just that it was slow, and over the years I had to go to more and more restrictive plans (not in terms of calories, but in terms of the number of food groups). When I took a look at the food plans that did work for me, I noticed that they eliminated the most common allergens – wheat, dairy, corn, sugar, nuts and seeds. I then came across the book “The Plan” by @The Lyn-Genet Plan, which claimed that ANY food could cause a #FoodSensitivity and weight gain.
I found the items I was sensitive to at the time (food sensitivities change over time!), and I was able to lose over 7 dress sizes. I wasn’t sure if this “food sensitivity thing” was just me or was also something for others to consider – so I shared my message at the @Fat Disorders Research Society conference in 2019, where I also met with the @LipedemaFoundation. My facebook group slowly grew, with OTHER Lipedema women also saying that food sensitivities also impacted their limb size!
I now realize that Lipedema women seem to have a wide array of food sensitivities, and suggest that they get a Food Sensitivity test done to provide a baseline. I use @CheckMyBodyHealth. I like their product and what it has done for me so much that I am a #CheckMyBodyHealthAmbassador.
